Our divorce solicitors will use all of their specialist experience to get you through your divorce as quickly as possible. We can also provide an initial 15 Minute Telephone consultation at no charge from our London office based in Ealing.
There are a number of processes to go through when getting a divorce and some of these involve reaching agreements with your ex-spouse. For example, if you have children you will need to decide who cares for them, what access arrangements are made for the other parent and all of the financial aspects of the divorce. If you can successfully agree on these issues, the divorce process is relatively straightforward. Avenue Solicitors will guide you advise you on all of your options.
When you file for a divorce, you must give a reason for it. This is known as the grounds for divorce. There are five grounds and which one you choose depends on your circumstances. Your specialist divorce solicitor will discuss the grounds for divorce with you and offer you advice about which one works best for you. Once your ex-spouse has acknowledged the divorce petition and providing they agree with the divorce, you can apply for a Decree Nisi. Once granted, you can apply for a Decree Absolute six week and one day after the Decree Nisi, which finalises your divorce and dissolves your marriage.
If your ex-spouse doesn’t agree to the Divorce and decides to defend it, our specialist divorce solicitors can advise you as to the procedure and with their expertise may be able to avoid the proceedings proceeding on a defended basis. Defended divorces are rare but do happen and our expert divorce specialists will do their best to achieve the best possible outcome for you.
An acrimonious split may leave you in a poor position to try to reach an agreement with your ex-spouse, but there are other options open to you which could avoid having to go court. Mediation is an option that allows you and your ex-spouse the chance, along with a trained mediator, to try to resolve your disagreements. We will outline how mediation can help you when we meet for your initial consultation.
